Men’s Tennis Opens 2025 Season with Two Ranked Match Ups Versus Duke and NC State

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 21 Harvard men's tennis will begin its 2025 dual season campaign with a pair of ranked battles on the road starting with No. 12 Duke on Sunday, January 19 at 12:00 p.m. ET.  The Crimson will then wrap up its North Carolina road trip at No. 22 NC State on Tuesday, January 21 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

What to Know

  • Harvard recorded its second straight 20+ season last year, finishing with a record of 22-7 for its highest win total in the Andrew Rueb '95 era. 
  • Along with its historic record, the Crimson won its third straight Ivy League title and made its fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  Additionally, for the second straight season Harvard advanced to the Sweet 16. 
  • Harvard will once again start its season against high-powered opponents, facing four NCAA tournament teams from last season in the first four contests. 
  • Harvard returned nine players while adding four new faces to the roster. 
  • Of its returners is Daniel Milavsky who finished with the highest win totals in both singles and doubles play with a record of 22-9 and 29-12, respectively. 
  • Following his breakout season, Milavsky was named the ITA New England Regional Most Improved Player.  Additionally, he was named First-Team All-Ivy for doubles and Second-Team All-Ivy for singles.
  • Throughout the fall season, juniors Valdemar Pape and Masato Perera led the team with six singles victories. 
  • On the doubles side Pape and first-year, Mitchell Lee, each recorded seven victories individually while collecting a 4-1 record as a duo. 
  • Harvard holds a dominant lead in the all-time series with the Duke Blue Devils, having won 15 out of 17 contests. 
  • The Crimson have won each of the last two meetings by narrow margins, 4-3.
  • Tuesday's match will be just the fourth meeting between Harvard and NC State with the Crimson having been victorious in everyone.  Most recently, the Crimson dropped the Wolfpack 6-1 last season. 

Next Up

Harvard will return home to serve as a host site for the ITA Kickoff Weekend for the second straight season.  The Crimson will begin its journey back to the ITA Team Indoor Nationals on Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m. ET against Georgia.
