CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving is set to welcome Penn and Boston College to Blodgett Pool on Saturday. The Senior Day meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. ET start and will air live on ESPN+.
What to Know
- The Crimson comes into its final home meet of the 2024-25 campaign with a 5-0 record (4-0 Ivy League). Penn, meanwhile, is 3-5 (1-5 Ivy) on the season and Boston College is 2-2.
- Prior to the meet, Harvard will recognize its 11-member senior class, which consists of Zach Bartel, Aayush Deshpande, Harris Durham, Cameron Green, Quinn Harron, Ben Littlejohn, Jonathan Novinski, Dylan Rhee, Anthony Rincon, Shane Washart and Adam Wesson. The group has been a part of Ivy League-championship-winning teams in each of their years on campus as Harvard has won seven straight conference titles.
- Harvard has had a busy couple of weeks, having beaten Arizona (178-122) and Brown (182-118) on the road the last two Fridays. The win over the Wildcats marked the Crimson's first action since it completed the four-day Minnesota Invitational back on Dec. 7.
- The Crimson's win over Brown, meanwhile, was a complete team effort as it received individual victories from Adriano Arioti (200 fly, 200 back), Joshua Chen (100 breast, 200 breast), Eric Lee (400 IM), David Schmitt (100 fly), Sonny Wang (50 free, 100 free), Washart (1,000 free), and Wesson (1m diving, 3m diving). Harvard also won the 400 free relay (Rincon, Marre Gattnar, David Greeley, Wang).
- Harvard is making its first appearance at Blodgett Pool in over two months. The last time the Crimson competed in front of its home fans was on Nov. 22, in a 201-99 triumph over Columbia.
- Harvard has won 11 straight home dual meets, a streak that dates to the 2019-20 campaign. The last time the Crimson dropped a head-to-head matchup was on Nov. 9, 2019, when it lost a doubleheader to Duke (172-128) and seventh-ranked Texas A&M (167.50-132.50).
- Harvard is looking to avenge its only loss of the 2023-24 season when it clashes with the Quakers. That day, Penn earned a 176-124 decision in Philadelphia to hand the Crimson its first Ivy defeat since 2016. Despite the setback, Harvard comes into Saturday's meet with a 77-3 all-time advantage in the series.
- The Quakers were in action on Wednesday at West Chester and came away with a 173-124 win.
- The Crimson's history with Boston College (two all-time meetings) is shorter than the distance one would drive to travel to Chestnut Hill (just under five miles). Nevertheless, the Crimson is 2-0 vs. the Eagles, claiming victories in Jan. 2017 (179-112 at Blodgett) and Jan. 2020 (159-109 in Coral Gables, Florida).
- Boston College is coming off a victory over cross-town foe Boston University. The Eagles emerged with a 173-127 home win. The last time BC competed on the road was at BU's Terrier Invite where it won the event with 1,685.50 points.
- For fans planning on attending Saturday's meet, Harvard will be charging $10 for parking on its athletics campus.
