Carrie Moore Named to the 2026 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award Preseason Watch List

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Carrie Moore, the Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach for Harvard Women's Basketball, The Ragatz Family Harvard Coach of Excellence, was one of 20 coaches named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award, Her Hoop Stats announced today.

After leading the Crimson to arguably the most historic season in program history last season, Moore was a finalist for the award.  In 2024-25 she led Harvard to a program record 24 wins, its first Ivy League Tournament Championship ever, and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2007.

Additionally, Moore became the fastest coach to 50 wins in program history and recorded her first top-25 win as she led the Crimson to a overtime victory over No. 25 Indiana in just the second game of the season.

The Crimson will look to have another historic season in the fourth year of the Carrie Moore era as it welcomes back 11 returners and added five highly touted recruits in its Class of 2029.

The award is named after Moore's predecessor and the Ivy League's all-time winningest coach.  During her 40-year tenure with the Crimson Delaney-Smith compiled 630 wins and 11 Ivy League titles.  Harvard reached the NCAA tournament six times under the hall of fame coach including in 1998 when the Crimson completed the first ever 16 over one-seed upset.
