CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's and Women's Fencing delivered another weekend of commanding performances, pairing dominant team results with standout individual records as the Crimson continued to build early-season momentum.
Harvard swept all opponents in head-to-head action. The Crimson women defeated Brandeis 25–2, Boston College 19–8, and MIT 18–9, while the men earned wins over Brandeis 22–5, Boston College 14–13, and MIT 18–9.
Facing regional opponents in a full slate of bouts, Harvard's women's squad impressed with depth and consistency, highlighted by multiple undefeated performers. The men's team also shined with strong contributions across all three weapons.
First-years Lucia Zhang and Emily Jing led the women with perfect 9–0 weekends. Senior Madison Duckett (8–0) and sophomore Jenna Shoman (8–1) added to the stellar sabre results, while two-time Olympian and two-time All-American Jessica Guo delivered a flawless 6–0 outing to anchor the group.
On the men's side, sophomore Alexander Tafur remained unbeaten with a 7–0 performance, and sophomore Nicholas Zhang paced the squad with an 8–1 mark. Sophomore Colin Heathcock and first-year Cody Ji both posted strong 7–2 records to help steer the Crimson through competitive rounds.
Harvard opened competition with commanding bouts across all weapons. On the women's side, Zhang, Jing, Duckett, and Shoman combined to go 12–0 in early rounds, while Guo added a clean 3–0 sweep in foil to set the tone.
The men matched that energy. Heathcock and Ji each went 3–0 in their opening bouts, while Tafur and N. Zhang each combined for a 6–0 epee start that propelled Harvard into early control. First-year Taylor Chon contributed a steady 5–2 weekend highlighted by a 3–0 sweep against Boston College.
As the day continued, Harvard widened its separation. Sophomore Yasmine Khamis impressed with a 6–1 weekend that included undefeated rounds versus Brandeis and Boston College. Senior Kaitlyn Pak added a strong 6–3 showing, and junior Isabella Chin delivered a versatile 6–2 effort across events.
The men sustained their momentum with junior Henry Lawson posting a 6–3 record built on a perfect 3–0 Brandeis round. Junior Daniel Zhang contributed a gritty 5–4 performance, bolstered by a flawless 3–0 MIT slate. First-year Steven Miall and junior Andrew Chen added key wins throughout challenging rotations.
Harvard closed the event with emphatic finishes. Pak and Chin picked up critical MIT victories, while Duckett, Guo, Shoman, and Zhang capped the day with final-round sweeps. On the men's side, Tafur and N. Zhang remained undefeated in closing bouts, solidifying one of the program's strongest collective statistical weekends of the year.
The Crimson now shift their focus to the next phase of the season, entering a competitive break before returning to action in January at the St. John's Invitational.
