Men's Swimming and Diving Notches Three NCAA Qualifying Times at Minnesota Invitational
 
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving posted three NCAA qualifying times on the final day of the Minnesota Invitational. The Crimson finished in third place with 1,284 points, sitting behind No. 6 California (2,332.50) and Minnesota (1,341.50). Denver (1,096) and UNLV (472) rounded out the team standings.

Prelims Highlights

  • Adriano Arioti kicked things off for the Crimson by finishing in third in the 200 back. His 1:44.42 secured him a lane in the night A-final.
  • Sonny Wang punched his ticket to the A-final of the 100 free by posting a season-best time of 43.04, which was good for sixth place.
  • Joshua Chen was the runner-up in the 200 breast after finishing in a season-best 1:55.87. Eric Lee guaranteed himself a spot in the A-final as well after coming in eighth place (1:59.31).
  • Harvard went 4-5 in the 200 fly, with David Schmitt posting a time of 1:44.46 and Arioti finishing in a season-best 1:45.70. 

Finals Highlights

  • Harvard placed two athletes in the top-6 of the 1,650 free. William Mulgrew came in third place with a time of 14:53.09 (No. 5 all-time at Harvard) and Pablo Martinez finished in sixth (15:06.11). Both performances were NCAA qualifying marks.
  • Arioti came in third place in the A-final of the 200 back, registering a time of 1:43.01.
  • Wang finished in fifth in A-final of the 100 free, completing the race in 43.10.
  • Chen notched the third-best A-final time in the 200 breast, touching the pad in 1:56.49. Lee, meanwhile, came in eighth place (2:01.78).
  • The Crimson finished in third and eighth place in the in A-final of the 200 fly. Schmitt was Harvard's top performer with a time of 1:43.31, to post an NCAA qualifying time. Arioti was eighth with a 1:47.53 effort.
  • Harvard finished the meet with a fourth-place showing in the 400 free relay. The Crimson A-group of Wang, Gattnar, Croley and Maro Miknic completed the race in 2:52.68.

Up Next

Harvard returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 10, when it welcomes Brown to Blodgett Pool. The meet is set for an 11 a.m. ET start and will air live on ESPN+.
