CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field embarked on a key weekend with three meets across the country, as the Crimson orchestrated several notable performances at the Wisconsin Windy City Invite, the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, and the Eagle Elite Invitational.
EAGLE ELITE INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Action at the TRACK at new balance started with the men's 60m hurdles. Sophomore Simon Weiser took sixth in the finals, posting a time of 8.20.
- In the women's 60m, first-year Saige Forbes finished in ninth place after completing the sprint in 7.70.
- Three Crimson qualified for the men's 60m finals at the Eagle Elite Invitational. First-Year LeRoy Horton keeps showing promise in the event in his young collegiate career, finishing in second place with a time of 6.84. Junior Jonas Clarke placed fifth (6.90), while first-year Camren Ware took seventh (7.00).
- First-Years continued to shine in the men's 400m. A native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, first-year Harlow Tong took sixth, matching his personal-best of 48.26. Running in the seventh heat, senior Peter Fischer finished in 11th overall with a time of 48.57, while Ondrej Vesely rounded out the top-15 with a 14th place showing, crossing the finish line in 48.96.
- Senior Chloe Fair was Harvard's lone representative in the women's 400m at the Eagle Elite Invitational. The Suwanee, Georgia native shined, taking second with a time of 53.29.
- After breaking the school record in the 800m earlier this season, senior Victoria Bossong almost did it again at the Eagle Elite Invitational, winning against a competitive field with a time of 2:00.85.
- Tong produced another stellar showing in the men's 200m, taking third with a time of 21.54, as fellow classmate Liam Acevedo finished right behind him with a time of 21.58. First-Year Jordan Coleman was the third Crimson in the top-10, taking seventh with a time of 21.70.
- First-Year Ella Cooper earned a win in the women's 200m, posting a time of 24.09 in the process.
VALENTINE INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Harvard began its time at the Valentine Invitational with the men's mile. Senior Joe Ewing ran in the fourth heat of the event, finishing in 26th overall after clocking a 3:58.13, a season-best. Fellow senior Noah Ward also finished inside the top 100, taking 76th with a time of 4:02.09.
- Senior Reed Pryor was the Crimson's top performer in the men's 3000m, running a personal-best 8:02.38 for an 80th place showing. Running in the same heat as Pryor, sophomore Sam Burgess took 88th after finishing the race in 8:03.58.
- The day at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center concluded with the men's 5000m. Senior Ben Rosa improved his personal-best in the event by a wide margin, finishing in 22nd with a time of 13:35.96, a mark that ranks third all-time in school history.
- An All-Region and All-Ivy League selection in cross country action, junior Shane Brosnan also set a new PR in the 5000m, as his time of 13:37.65 is fourth all-time in Harvard history.
WISCONSIN WINDY CITY INVITE HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- The throws took center stage at the Wisconsin Windy City Invite.
- Senior Kenneth Ikeji, the reigning NCAA national champion in the men's weight throw, won the men's weight throw with an attempt of 23.62m (77'6").
- The defending Ivy League champion in the women's weight throw, sophomore Emilia Kolokotroni recorded a throw of 19.50m (63'11.75") at the Wisconsin Windy City Invite, finishing in sixth place in the process.
