PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving won the 200 medley relay and in the process, set a new program and facility record on day one of the Ivy League Championships at DeNunzio Pool.
The Crimson suffered a bit of misfortune in the 800 free relay, getting disqualified, along with Columbia, at the conclusion of the race. After two events, Harvard enters Thursday's action in seventh place (64 points) behind Princeton (120), Brown (108), Yale (106), Penn (102), Dartmouth (98) and Cornell (94). The Lions are in eighth with 46 points.
How It Happened
- The Crimson opened the night by winning the 200 medley relay in record-setting fashion. The Harvard quartet of Anya Mostek, Aleksandra Denisenko, Sydney Lu and Blythe Wieclawek posted a time of 1:36.83, establishing a new Harvard and DeNunzio Pool standard. The Crimson finished ahead of runner-up Princeton, which finished the race in 1:37.14.
- Harvard's 200 medley relay victory was its first since the 2020 Ivy League Championships (Felicia Pasadyn, Jaycee Yegher, Addie Rose Bullock, Mei Lynn Colby).
- In a non-scoring team diving relay (exhibition), Harvard finished in third place with a score of 261.60. Princeton (280.90) and Penn (261.80) came in first and second place, respectively.
- The 800 free relay was the final event of the night and the Crimson finished in second place, posting a time of 7:07.21 before meet officials delivered their final decision to disqualify Harvard and Columbia. Lu, Alexandra Bastone, Kaylee McDonald and Molly Hamlin represented the Crimson in the race.
