No. 11 Men’s Tennis Wins Battle With No. 55 Memphis, 5-2

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 11 Harvard men's tennis team stood tall this evening against the No. 55 Memphis Tigers, coming from behind to earn a 5-2 victory at the Murr Tennis Center. The Crimson (9-3, 0-0 Ivy), rallied to win the last five singles matches of the night to pick up its second ranked win of season over the No. 55 Tigers (7-8, 1-0 AAC).
The Tigers jumped out to an early advantage in doubles action by winning court three, 6-1. The pairing of Daniel Milavsky and David Lins continued to roll, earning a 6-2 victory on court two to level the score. Memphis would escape doubles play with the point, however, after taking a 6-3 win on court one.

Memphis was first on the board in singles action as well, taking a 2-0 lead in the match after claiming the victory on court two. After that, it was all Crimson as Harvard rallied to win the final five singles matches of the night to seal the win over the 55th ranked Tigers.

Masato Perera got the rally started with a straight set win on court six. The junior won the match 6-4, 6-1 to earn his fifth victory of the Spring. Melchior Delloye matched Perera, also posting a 6-4, 6-1 triumph on court five to tie the match at 2-2.
Sophomore Rohan Murali put on an impressive performance in his match on court four, flying to a 6-2 first set victory before going back-and-forth with his opponent in the second set. Murali used an impressive series of point winners to close out his opponent in a tiebreak finish, 7-6(2)  and put Harvard one win away from clinching the match.
Daniel Milavsky sprinted out to a quick lead on court one, winning his first set 6-1. His Tiger opponent leveled the score in the second set, squeaking out a 4-6 win over Milavsky before the senior captain closed the door with a 6-2 win in the third set. The Massachusetts native picked up his seventh singles win of the Spring to lift the Crimson to its fifth consecutive winning result.
Valdemar Pape closed out the action at the Murr Center, sealing a 5-2 win for the Crimson with a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 win on court three.
