CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior goaltender
Aku Koskenvuo signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks, the organization announced yesterday. Koskenvuo will forgo his final season of eligibility to begin his professional career.
In his three seasons in a Crimson uniform, Koskenvuo played in 42 games and posted a 2.91 GAA and a .905 SV%. Over two seasons, Koskenvuo started five of six possible playoff games and was between the pipes in two ECAC first-round victories.
An All-Ivy honorable mention this season, Koskenvuo played in 21 games and posted a 2.81 GAA and a .905 SV%. The Finnish netminder recorded his first shutout of the season against No. 15 Quinnipiac in a 25-save performance, leading the Crimson to victory.
Koskenvuo earned his second straight Tim Taylor Cup as the MVP of the Harvard-Yale game after a 24-save performance against the rival Bulldogs. As a rookie, he earned his first career win against Brown in a 21-save performance over the Bears, while recording his first shutout the following year at Ingalls Rink in a 1-0 win in Ted Donato's 300th career win as a head coach.
Koskenvuo was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and represented Finland in the 2021 under-18 world championships and the 2023 world junior championships.
