FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving completed its first day at the NCAA Championships on Thursday in Federal Way, Washington. The Crimson had
Alexandra Bastone compete in the 500 free, while
Nina Janmyr performed on the 1-meter springboard.
The Ivy League champion in the 500 free, Bastone entered the national meet with the 25
th-best time in Division I and nearly made the finals night session, finishing her preliminary heat in 4:38.98. When the water settled, the sophomore was tabbed as the second alternate, just missing out on the eight-athlete consolation final. Bastone, however, was the top Ivy swimmer of the three who competed.
Janmyr, meanwhile, finished in 38
th place on the 1-meter board, earning a score of 249.45. The junior's performance was not enough to advance her to the finals, which were to be held later in the day.
Bastone will continue her nationals journey and return to the pool on Friday to compete in the 200 free. Prelims are scheduled for 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, with the finals slated for 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. All the action will air live on ESPN+.
