No. 2 Women’s Squash Advances to Howe Cup Finals with 8-1 Result Over No. 3 Princeton

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 2 Harvard Crimson left no doubt on the courts today in an all-around effort that resulted in an 8-1 win against the No. 3 Princeton Tigers in the CSA Team National Championship Semifinals. The Crimson will now move on to the Championship match tomorrow where it will compete for the Howe Cup against the top-seeded Trinity Bantams.
 

How It Happened

Playing in its 16th consecutive semifinal match at the CSA Team National Championships, the second-seeded Harvard Crimson met its Ivy League foe, third-seeded Princeton, on the courts to compete for a spot in the National Championship match tomorrow.
 
Harvard opened up an early 2-0 advantage after quick victories at twos and sevens. Caroline Fouts and Amira Singh took care of business at the second and seventh positions, respectively, earning a pair of sweeping 3-0 wins. Princeton countered with a win at sevens to make the score 2-1 after the first wave.
 
Emma Carney got the Crimson back on track in her match at nines, defeating her opponent in straight games, 11-6, 11-5, 11-5. At the top of the lineup, Saran Nghiem came back from a 1-2 deficit to outlast Zeina Zein – the 2025 CSA Individual National Champion – and come out with an impressive 3-2 victory. Ocean Ma clinched the match for the Crimson in her matchup at fives, racing to a 3-0 victory to give Harvard its fifth win of the match.
 
The rest of the Crimson lineup continued to perform as Brecon Welch, Lucie Stefanoni and Habiba Eldafrawy each recorded wins in their respective matches. Welch won her match at sevens, 3-1, and the duo of Stefanoni and Eldafrawy won their matches at three and four, respectively, 3-0.

The Crimson will compete for the Howe Cup in the CSA Team National Championship Final tomorrow morning. Harvard will meet its rival, the No. 1 Trinity Bantams, on the courts at the Specter U.S. Squash Center at 10:30 AM in a battle of the nation's top teams.
