CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Across four meets around the United States, Harvard track & field student-athletes dazzled, posting historic and impressive performances at the Mt. Sac Relays, the Sean Collier Invitational, the Tom Jones Invitational, and the Wake Forest Invitational.
MT. SAC RELAYS HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- In the shot put circle, sophomore Isaac Delaney made an impact, finishing in fourth place in the men's shot put with a career-best throw of 17.26m (56'7.5"). Delaney now ranks eighth in the event in school history.
- Over on the women's side of the shot put, first-year Tyler Glover took sixth place with a throw of 14.57m (47'9.75").
SEAN COLLIER INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- The evening in Cambridge started with the women's 3000m steeplechase, as senior Cristina DeMeo finished in sixth place after crossing the finish line in 11:40.82.
- The women's 1500m saw senior Katie Haag run a 4:49.74 to take 17th place.
- A pair of Crimson took part in the men's mile at the Sean Collier Invitational. Junior Ben Shryock ran to a 21st place showing, posting a 4:18.90 in the process. Sophomore Jake Swanson recorded a 32nd place finish with a time of 4:27.43.
- Senior Jordyn Duby took 12th place in the women's 5000m, ending the race in 17:34.39.
TOM JONES INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Crimson started the day in the Sunshine State with the women's 200m open. First-Year Ella Cooper finished the race in 24.12, taking 17th place in the process. Sophomore Mickaila Haisley finished in 34th place (24.80) and first-year Saige Forbes placed 36th (24.88).
- Over on the men's side of the 200m open, first-year Liam Acevedo finished in sixth with a time of 21.13, a time that is now tied for seventh all-time in school history. Two more Crimson took part in the men's 200m open. First-Year Hudson Allain placed 24th with a time of 21.54, as junior Jonas Clarke finished the sprint in 21.62 to take 27th.
- With a time of 1:01.20, junior Jacklynn Okereke finished in 11th in the women's 400m hurdles open.
- An All-America First Team honoree in the men's outdoor high jump last year, sophomore Tito Alofe finished in sixth after clearing 2.10m (6'10.75").
- In the men's javelin throw, senior Jeremiah Swett recorded a 15th place finish, taking the spot with a throw of 50.11m (164'5").
- One of the Crimson's team captains, junior Mfoniso Andrew was Harvard's lone representative in the women's 200m invite. Andrew ran a 24.05, placing in 26th.
- The school record holder in the women's long jump, sophomore Marta Amani finished in eighth in the women's long jump open, leaping to a mark of 6.04m (19'9.75").
- First-Year Jordan Coleman took part in the men's 200m invite, finishing in 27th with a time of 21.31.
- A two-time first team All-American in the indoor campaign, senior and team captain Chloe Fair finished in sixth in the women's 400m hurdles invite, crossing the finish line in 56.31.
WAKE FOREST INVITATIONAL:
- The men's 10,000m started the action in Winston Salem, North Carolina, as senior Ben Rosa finished in third place with a personal-best time of 28:35.58. Rosa now ranks sixth all-time in school history in the men's 10,000m.
- Two Crimson competed in the men's 3000m steeplechase open. First-Year William Brunner finished in fifth, posting a personal-best time of 9:05.06. Sophomore Ethan Aidam also set a new PR, finishing in 28th with a time of 9:40.55.
- In the women's 1500m open, sophomore Samira Kennedy finished in 15th place with a time of 4:29.19. First-Year Abigail Sadler took 23rd after posting a 4:31.43.
- Continuing her breakout junior season, Molly Malague finished in seventh in the women's 3000m steeplechase invite, ending the race with a personal-best 10:06.60. Malague now ranks second all-time in the 3000m steeplechase in program history.
- The Crimson kept rolling in the men's 3000m steeplechase. Senior Reed Pryor ran an 8:44.66, finishing in second place. Pryor moves up to third all-time in Harvard history.
- In the women's 1500m invite, junior Penelope Salmon improved on her personal-best, running a 4:17.92 to take 23rd. With her time, Salmon remains in fourth all-time in school history in the 1500m.
- Two Crimson seniors also ran in the women's 1500m invite. A team captain, senior Marianne Mihas finished in 39th with a time of 4:23.88, as her fellow classmate Ellaney Matarese set a new PR of 4:24.41 to take 41st place.
- A trio of Harvard student-athletes ran the men's 1500m invite. Senior Joe Ewing led the way, placing 19th with a time of 3:41.80. Along with Ewing, sophomore Ferenc Kovacs posted a time of 3:42.83 to take 30th, while senior Noah Ward crossed the finish line in 32nd, ending the race in 3:42.87.
- In the women's 5000m, senior Zoe Cooper ran a 16:17.09, as that time was good enough for 16th place. Cooper now ranks 10th all-time in the women's 5000m in school history. Fellow classmate Ella Gilson finished in 18th place, recording a 16:20.79.
- The night concluded with the men's 5000m. Junior Shane Brosnan highlighted Harvard's showing in the event, as he finished in 14th place with a time of 13:49.32. Brosnan now ranks sixth all-time in school history. Two more Crimson earned spots in the top-20. Sophomore Charlie Ortmans placed 19th with a time of 13:52.69, as he takes the No. 7 spot on the school's all-time performance list. Fellow sophomore Sam Burgess finished right behind him, taking 20th with a time of 13:54.09, moving him up into the No. 8 spot on the Harvard all-time list.
