CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field orchestrated notable and historic moments to close out the weekend, as the Crimson set new school and Ivy League records at the Tom Jones Invitational, Mt. Sac Relays and the Sean Collier Invite.
At the Tom Jones Invitational, sophomore
Timi Esan, junior
Jonas Clarke, first-year
Jordan Coleman and first-year
LeRoy Horton joined forces to set a new school record in the men's 4x100m relay, doing so with a time of 39.34.
In the women's 800m, senior
Victoria Bossong made a statement in Gainesville, taking second place with a time of 1:59.48. With that mark, Bossong set a new Ivy League and school record, surpassing Meredith L. Rainey's former record of 1:59.73 from the 1990 Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships.
MT. SAC RELAYS HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Two Crimson started the day in the women's hammer throw open. Senior Cara Salsberry finished in seventh place with a throw of 56.43m (185'1"). Ending the event in 13th place, sophomore Alice Mihas posted a throw of 52.79m (173'2').
- An All-America First Team honoree in 2024, sophomore Milina Wepiwé took fifth in the women's discus throw with an attempt of 55.12m (180'10").
- Sophomore Emilia Kolokotroni improved on her personal-best in the women's hammer throw, finishing in eighth with a throw of 65.87m (216'1"). Kolokotroni is second all-time in the women's hammer throw in program history.
- Senior Kenneth Ikeji won the men's hammer throw at the Mt. Sac Relays, doing so with a season-best 75.20m (246'8").
SEAN COLLIER INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- The second day of the Sean Collier Invitational saw sophomore Chris Ruano finish in sixth in the men's high jump after clearing 1.88m (6'2").
- Junior Reuben Henry-Daire picked up a win in the men's 400m, running a 49.04 to sit atop the podium.
- The men's 100m saw first-year Camren Ware take 12th place after sprinting a 10.92.
- With a time of 1:53.03, junior Justin Levy finished in seventh in the men's 800m.
- Henry-Daire returned to the track for the men's 200m, as the Reading, U.K. native finished in seventh place with a time of 22.01.
TOM JONES INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Crimson's historic day in Gainesville started with the women's 100m open. Junior and team captain Mfoniso Andrew led the way in the event, taking 22nd with a time of 11.98. Sophomore Mickaila Haisley placed 24th after finishing the sprint in 11.99. First-Years Saige Forbes (26th/12.03) and Ella Cooper (32nd/12.13) also participated in the event.
- Clarke ran the men's 100m open, posting the Crimson's top performance in the event, taking fourth with a wind-aided time 10.31. Taking 26th, Horton crossed the finish line in 10.60.
- In the women's 400m open, sophomore Marta Amani excelled, finishing in fourth with a personal-best time of 53.93. Amani now ranks fifth all-time in school history.
- Taking eighth place, first-year Hudson Allain posted a time of 47.39, as he is now tied for eighth all-time in school history in the event.
- The men's 110m hurdles saw sophomore Simon Weiser move his personal-best down to 14.23. With that result, Weiser now ranks third all-time in the men's 110m hurdles.
- Harvard made waves in the men's 4x100m relay, as Esan, Clarke, Coleman and Horton broke the school record set earlier this year with a time of 39.34, taking 11th place in the process.
- Right after the Crimson's record breaking showing in the men's 4x100m relay, another milestone was set in the women's 800m. Bossong finished in second with a time of 1:59.48, breaking the Ivy League record set by Meredith Rainey '90 in 1990. With her time in Gainesville, Bossong now holds the No. 1 spot on the national performance list.
- Along with Bossong, sophomore Sophia Gorriaran posted a time of 2:01.88 to take fifth place.
- The women's pole vault saw first-year Ella McRitchie take 10th after clearing 4.10m (13'5.25"), as she now ranks second all-time in the event in program history.
- Senior Chloe Fair represented the Crimson in the women's 400m invite, taking 16th with a 52.60. Fair now ranks third all-time in school history in the women's 400m.
- The women's 4x400m relay saw Fair, Amani, Gorriaran and Bossong post a 11th place finish with a time of 3:30.76, as the quartet now hold the No. 3 spot in the school's all-time performance list.
- Harvard wrapped its time in the Sunshine State with the men's 4x400m relay, as Allain, first-year Liam Acevedo, senior Peter Fischer and senior Steffan Jones took 14th place with a time of 3:08.82, as the group now ranks third all-time in school history.
