Sailing to Host Fowle Trophy, Travel to Yale Women’s Team Race

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing will play host to the Fowle Trophy/NEISA Team Racing Championship and travel to the Yale Women's Team Race in New Haven, Connecticut. Both events are scheduled for April 5-6.

In a scheduling update, Sunday's action at the Fowle Trophy was to air live on ESPN+. That plan, however, has been canceled due to the expected inclement weather in the Cambridge area.

What to Know

  • Harvard is coming off its first three-regatta weekend that saw it win the Marchiando Trophy, come in fourth at the Dellenbaugh Trophy, and ninth at the BU Trophy Fleet Race.
  • The Crimson has finished in the upper half of the team standings at eight of the nine team-race events this spring (coed and women), including seven straight.
  • Harvard's win at the Marchiando Trophy marked the second straight season it emerged victorious at the regatta and represented its third Marchiando triumph since 2019 (2025, 2024, 2019). The Crimson has now won two regattas this spring, with the first coming during opening weekend (Liam O'Keefe Trophy; Cranston, R.I.).
  • Harvard was dominant at the Marchiando Trophy, posting a 20-1 record against the seven other teams in the field. The next-closest foe was Yale and its 16-5 record. Competing for the Crimson on the Charles River were Justin Callahan-Kennedy Leehealey, Mitchell Callahan-Rosella Irfan, and Robby Meek-Christina Chen.
  • The Crimson's fourth-place showing at the Dellenbaugh Trophy was its best since it came in third back in 2019. Harvard's 2025 performance was six places better than 12 months ago when it was 10th. In the boats for the Crimson down in Cranston were skippers Cordelia Burn, Kate Danielson and Zoey Ziskind, and crew Margo Silliman, Sophia Montgomery, Amelie Zucker, Peyton Hadfield and Katherine Shin.
  • Harvard recorded a solid effort at its first fleet race of the spring – the BU Trophy. Theresa Straw and Catherine Mignone sailed in the A-Division, winning three races, including the final two en route to a final score of 94. Xavier Ayala-Vermont and Julia Downey, meanwhile, registered a pair of third-place finishes, which were among their five single-digit placings on the weekend. As a team, the Crimson finished with a score of 207.
  • Since the Crimson returned to action in 2021-22 from the pandemic, it has finished in the top three in three straight Fowle Trophies, including runner-up performances in 2022 and 2024. Harvard has lifted the Fowle five times, with the last coming in 2005 (2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001).
  • Last season, Harvard finished in fourth place at the Yale Women's Team Race. Back from that team this year are Burn, Ziskind, Sarra Guezguez, Hadfield and Silliman.

Up Next

Harvard will compete for the Legler Trophy/NEISA Women's Team Racing Championship (Cranston, R.I.) and appear at the Thompson Trophy Team Race (New London, Conn.). Both regattas are slated for April 12-13.
