Mason Langenbrunner and Joe Miller Named 2025-26 Men's Ice Hockey Captains

BOSTON, Mass. – Mason Langenbrunner and Joe Miller were named the 2024-25 team captains at the annual team banquet at the Harvard Club of Boston last night.

Langenbrunner and Miller will take over for seniors Ian Moore, Jack Bar, and Zakary Karpa as captains of the Crimson next season, becoming the 140th and 141st captains in program history.

Langenbrunner had a career season on the blue line, netting six goals and adding four assists in 33 games. A Boston Bruins draft pick, he scored twice at TD Garden against Northeastern in the Beanpot and was a two-time ECAC Defenseman of the Week. Having played 99 career games, Langenbrunner is set to become the 43rd defenseman in the last 45 seasons to reach 100+ career games when he leads the Crimson onto the ice next season. The Minnesota native has recorded seven goals and nine assists throughout his Harvard career.

Miller has been an offensive force for the Crimson, tallying 31 goals and 47 assists for a total of 77 points over 93 career games and is just the 10th Crimson forward in the last decade to surpass 75 career points.  Named Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2022-23, Miller earned All-Ivy First Team and ECAC Third Team honors as a sophomore, finishing with 13 goals and 14 assists in 32 games. He was selected in the sixth round of the NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In addition to naming the new captains, the team also presented its end-of-season awards and honored the graduating senior class.

Juniors Casey Severo and Marek Hejduk received the Ralph "Cooney" Weiland Award, given to the Harvard hockey player(s) whose devotion to the game is exemplified through aggressive and spirited play as well as selfless contribution to team success.

Ian Moore was awarded the John Tudor Memorial Cup, presented annually to the most valuable member of the team, not only for ability but also for sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork.

Mason Langenbrunner earned the Donald Angier Hockey Trophy, awarded to the player who shows the greatest overall improvement during the season.

First-year forward Mick Thompson received the George Percy Award, given to a freshman who demonstrates enthusiasm, sportsmanship, team spirit, and loyalty.

Senior Christian Jimenez was honored with the 2023 Alford-Brown Faculty Fellow Prize. Named after current faculty fellows Tim Brown and Bill Alford, this award recognizes a student-athlete for their contributions to Harvard Hockey and the broader Harvard community, through academic achievement, selfless commitment to the team, independent habits of mind, and dedication to community service.
