CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Basketball alumnus Robert Baker '20 is set to compete with Team USA at the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup, the continental basketball championship of the Americas, from August 22-31 at Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua, Nicaragua with Baker set to play in a FIBA event for the U.S. senior men's national team for the second time after competing in the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers.
As part of the event – the highest level of competition for national teams from the Americas outside the Olympics and World Cup – Team USA will begin play with three group stage games in Group A against the Bahamas (Aug. 23), Uruguay (Aug. 24), and Brazil (Aug. 26). The U.S. will look to advance to the knockout rounds, which include the quarterfinals (Aug. 28), semifinals (Aug. 30), and finals (Aug. 31).
Baker played in two games for Team USA during the February 2025 FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers, helping the U.S. earn wins over Puerto Rico (72-71, Feb. 20) and the Bahamas (105-83, Feb. 23). Baker posted 8.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game over the two contests.
Earlier this summer, Baker competed with the Indiana Pacers in the 2025 NBA Summer League, averaging 16.3 minutes, 11.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game over four games, while shooting 52.9 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from 3-point distance. In his Summer League finale, Baker dropped a double-double behind a game-high 26 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks, while hitting 11-of-18 field goals and 4-of-10 3-pointers vs. New Orleans (July 18). Baker competed in the NBA Summer League previously with the Oklahoma City Thunder (2022), Orlando Magic (2023), and Atlanta Hawks (2024).
Baker has played in 104 career NBA G League games including 53 starts over four seasons (2021-25) with Stockton, Lakeland/Osceola, and College Park, averaging 10.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 21.3 minutes per game. He has also played professionally in Slovakia (2020-21), Puerto Rico (2022-23), Japan (2023-24), and Germany (2024-25). He is set to play in New Zealand in Australia's NBL in 2025-26.
During his time at Harvard from 2016-20, Baker played in 99 career games with 39 career starts, averaging 4.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 14.9 minutes per game, while shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from 3-point distance, and 77.5 percent from the free throw line. As a senior, he averaged 7.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 22.3 minutes per game across 29 games played and 26 starts, while shooting 47.2 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from 3-point distance, and 81.8 percent on free throws.
