Men’s Swimming and Diving Split Dual Meet to Close Out HYP Competition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving closed out HYP competition Saturday afternoon by splitting the dual meet, defeating Yale while falling to Princeton. The Crimson topped the Bulldogs, 181-172, but came up short against the Tigers, 193-159.
After today's meet, Harvard improved to 8-1 on the season and completed its Ivy League schedule with a 6-1 record.

How It Happened
  • Raphael Tourette led Harvard on the boards in the three-meter dive, placing fifth with a total score of 332.10 points.
  • The quartet of Marre Gattnar, Joshua Chen, Maro Miknic, and Sonny Wang placed third in the 200 medley relay, touching in at 1:25.63, just 0.17 seconds behind Yale and 0.37 seconds back of Princeton.
  • In the 100 free, William Browne earned a third-place finish with a time of 43.54.
  • Adriano Arioti captured Harvard's first swimming victory of the day in the 200 back, touching the wall in 1:41.46, a time that qualifies the junior for the NCAA Championships.
  • Harvard followed with back-to-back wins, starting with Joshua Chen edging Yale's Charlie Egeland in a neck-and-neck finish in the 200 breast. Chen recorded a winning time of 1:56.16.
  • Mulgrew continued the momentum and made program history, breaking another Blodgett Pool record. The first-year won the 500 free in 4:14.25, surpassing the previous mark of 4:15.20.
  • Maro Miknic finished runner-up in the 100 fly, while David Schmitt, Oliver Pilkinton, and Felipe Baffico placed fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.
  • Arioti added a third-place finish in the 200 IM (1:45.98) to close out the individual swimming events.
  • The Crimson concluded the meet with a tightly contested 400 free relay, finishing behind Princeton with a time of 2:52.61.

Harvard returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 25, when it opens competition at the Ivy League Championships in Princeton, New Jersey. The four-day meet will run from Feb. 25–28, with live coverage available each day on ESPN+.
