Skiing Completes Nordic Side of St. Lawrence Carnival in Opening Weekend

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Crimson tallied four top-30 finishers in the freestyle sprint to complete its season-opening weekend on day two of the St. Lawrence Carnival on Tuesday at Mt. Van Hoevenberg alongside the U.S. Cross Country National Championships.
 
In Tuesday's freestyle sprint, Harvard's women's team tallied three top-30 finishers in senior Hayden McJunkin (15th), junior Clara Lake (16th), and junior Breagh Bridge (25th) while sophomore Elias Soulé paced the men's team with a 17th-place finish.
 
On day one on Sunday, both McJunkin (36th) and Lake (37th) came in the top 40 of the women's 10k classic.
 
As a team, Harvard finished the nordic side of the St. Lawrence Carnival in ninth place in the EISA with 205 points.
 

Harvard Highlights: Day 2

  • As a team, Harvard tallied four top-30 finishes among EISA skiers, including three top 20-finishes. The women's side notched three of the program's four top-30 efforts on the day.
  • Senior Hayden McJunkin paced the Crimson with a 15th-place finish among EISA skiers in the women's freestyle sprint with a time of 3:26.77 for 26 EISA points.
  • Junior Clara Lake followed directly behind her in 16th place behind a time of 3:27.38 for 25 EISA points.
  • Sophomore Elias Soulé led the men's team with a 17th-place effort among EISA competitors in the men's freestyle sprint with a time of 2:52.48 for 27 EISA points.
  • Junior Breagh Bridge rounded out Harvard's top-30 finishers with a 25th-place finish in the women's freestyle sprint in 3:31.41 for 21 EISA points.
  • Also competing in the women's freestyle sprint, sophomore Hanna Wilsey came in 33rd (3:33.52), and junior Meredith Schwartz placed 37th (3:35.62).
  • On the men's side, first-year Braden Bellizzi added a 37th-place finish (2:56.20, 15 EISA points) and sophomore Bennett Hutchison came in 52nd (2:59.23, nine EISA points).

Harvard Highlights: Day 1

  • Senior Hayden McJunkin led the Crimson with a 36th-place finish in the women's 10k classic with a time of 34:27.5 for 19 EISA points.
  • Junior Clara Lake came in 37th in the women's 10k classic behind a time of 34:30.1 for 18 EISA points.
  • Sophomore Hanna Wilsey placed 41st in 34:46.8 for 17 EISA points, and junior Breagh Bridge added a 50th-place finish in 35:04.9.
  • First-year Braden Bellizzi paced the men's team with a 53rd-place finish in 30:02.9 for 13 EISA points.
