No. 2 Men’s Squash Set to Battle for Ivy League Championship vs. No. 3 Penn, and No. 8 Princeton

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard men's squash will compete for the Ivy League crown this weekend when it competes in a pair of challenging conference matches. The Crimson (7-1, 4-0 Ivy) will hit the road where it will head south, first to Philadelphia, to face the Penn Quakers on Saturday before heading to Princeton to face off with the Tigers. Both matches are set to begin at 12:00 PM and will stream live on the Ivy League Streaming Platform.
 

The Matchups

The Ivy League Men's Squash title is up for grabs this weekend as the Crimson prepares for a pair of top-ten matchups against No. 3 Penn and No. 8 Princeton. Harvard looks to secure over Penn for the first time since 2023 when the sides meet on Saturday. The Quakers (10-2, 3-1 Ivy) is currently on a three-match winning streak after falling to No. 2 Trinity (Jan. 17) and No. 5 Yale (Jan. 18) prior to the Individual National Championships.
 
The No. 8 Tigers (4-5, 2-2 Ivy), fell to the Quakers in its last match (Feb. 7) after picking up a pair of league wins over No. 10 Cornell (Jan. 30) and No. 7 Columbia (Feb. 1) the weekend prior. Harvard also seeks its first win over Princeton since the 2023 campaign.
 

Last Time Out

Harvard split a weekend series with No. 1 Trinity and No. 4 Yale, earning a win over the Bulldogs after falling to the Bantams on the road. Omar Azzam was the lone member of the Crimson to record win in both matches, improving his individual record to 8-0.
 

Individual Records

Five student-athletes on the Crimson ladder have tallied seven or more individual wins this season including Alexander Broadbridge, Christian Capella, Jacob Lin, and Segev Rome. Omar Azzam is the only member of the team with an unblemished individual record of 8-0.
 

Series History

In the series against the Quakers, Harvard owns an 80-6 advantage in this historic series, with the first match dating back to 1929. The Crimson has a 25-4 record this century when facing the Quakers.
In the series with the Tigers, Harvard has a favorable 66-29 record, with the first match occurring in 1933. The Crimson is 11-2 in its last 13 meetings with the Tigers.

Recent Achievements

  • Harvard men's squash recorded its 1,000th win in program history in its last victory against the Tigers.
  • Omar Azzam advanced all the way to the semifinal round at the CSA Individual National Championships.

Up Next

Following this weekend's matchups, Harvard will be gearing up for the Ivy League Tournament, which will be held the following weekend (Feb. 21-22).
