CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –The Harvard Women's Hockey program is proud to announce that first-year forward
Morgan McGathey has been named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team, as selected by the league's coaches.
McGathey made an immediate impact in her debut season with the Crimson, emerging as one of the conference's most dynamic forwards. Throughout the 2025-26 campaign, she contributed consistently on both ends of the ice while playing key minutes in the Crimson top six. Impressively, McGathey led the team with 15 points and 10 goals in 30 games played during the regular season. She also tallied 12 of those points in ECAC play, another team-best mark. The Massachusetts native also skated to a +9 rating and played disciplined hockey all season, taking only three penalties over the course of the year. An all-around talent, McGathey was also key in the faceoff circle for Harvard, winning nearly 60-percent of her faceoffs on the year (322-218).
A member of a star-studded first-year class for the Crimson, McGathey and her classmates combined to capture four ECAC Rookie of the Week awards and one Rookie of the Month honor. McGathey collected one award herself on Nov. 17 after scoring three goals in a road series against Yale and Brown (Nov. 14-15).
McGathey and the Crimson will look to build on this season's momentum as they prepare for the ECAC Championship Quarterfinals this weekend, which pits them against the Princeton Tigers in a best-of-three series. The Crimson and the Tigers will clash at 3:00 PM on Friday, Saturday and – if necessary – Sunday this weekend at Hobey Baker Rink with a spot at Lake Placid on the line.
