CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 2 seed Harvard Men's Basketball will meet No. 3 seed Penn in the semifinals of the 2026 Ivy League Tournament on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 2:00 p.m. (ESPNews) at Cornell's Newman Arena in Ithaca, New York with a berth to the NCAA tournament on the line at the four-team event.

What to Know

• The Crimson (17-11, 10-4 Ivy) and Quakers (16-11, 9-5) will square off for the third time this season after splitting the regular season series, 1-1, with a pair of one-possession games. Harvard topped Penn in Cambridge, 64-63, on Jan. 19 before the Crimson fell to Penn, 64-61, on Feb. 28.
• Harvard totaled five awards as part of the Ivy League's All-Ivy and major awards. The Crimson's coaching staff earned Ivy League Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, sophomore guard Robert Hinton gained First Team All-Ivy, senior guard Chandler Piggé collected Second Team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy, and junior forward Thomas Batties II garnered Second Team All-Ivy accolades.
• The Crimson's coaching staff earned Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the first time in program history. This season, the group led the Crimson to a 17-11 overall record and 10-4 mark in Ivy League play to finish second in the conference standinsg, marking the program's highest finish since the 2019-20 season. As a team, Harvard leads the Ivy League in scoring defense (66.9) and free throw percentage (79.8). In the NCAA rankings, the Crimson stands second in free throw percentage (79.8) and fourth in fewest fouls per game (13.6). • Sophomore guard Robert Hinton collected First Team All-Ivy honors for the first time after garnering Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2024-25. This season, he has tallied 17.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 82.9 percent from the free throw line. • Senior guard Chandler Piggé took home both Second Team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy after garnering Honorable Mention All-Ivy a year ago. This season, Piggé has posted 13.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 46.5 percent from the field. In Ivy only play, he registered 12.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Piggé ranks third in the conference in steals per game (1.8), fourth in minutes per game (33.3), and sixth in assists per game (3.2). • Junior forward Thomas Batties II gained Second Team All-Ivy, capturing All-Ivy honors for the first time in his career. He has compiled 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game on the year, while shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 45.9 percent from 3-point distance, and 87.2 percent from the free throw line. In Ivy only play, he notched 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game, while shooting 41.9 percent from downtown. He ranks first in the Ivy League in blocks per game (1.5) and second in 3-point percentage (45.9). In conference play, he stood first in blocks per game (2.0), third in 3-point percentage (41.9), and third in minutes per game (35.8). In 2025-26, Batties II has scored in double figures 20 times and netted 20 or more points three times.
• Harvard opens its time at Ivy Madness with interviews and an open shootaround at Newman Arena on Friday, Mar. 13 on ESPN+. The Crimson will participate in a press conference at noon, Live from Ivy Madness at 12:20 p.m., and an open shootaround at 12:30 p.m.
• The Crimson claimed the No. 2 seed in the Ivy League Tournament and will face No. 3 seed Penn in the semifinals on Mar. 14 at 2:00 p.m. (ESPNews). In the other semifinal, No. 1 seed Yale will play No. 4 seed Cornell on Mar. 14 at 11:00 a.m. (ESPNU) as the Big Red will host the event at Newman Arena in Ithaca, New York.
• The Crimson secured its spot in the Ivy League Tournament with its win at Cornell (Feb. 21). Ivy Madness will take place at the Big Red's Newman Arena in Ithaca, New York from Mar. 14-15. The men's semifinals will take place on Mar. 14 at 11:00 a.m. (ESPNU) and 2:00 p.m. (ESPNews) ahead of the final on Mar. 15 at noon (ESPN2). Open shootarounds for the men's teams will take place on Mar. 13.
• The Crimson has qualified for Ivy Madness for the first time since 2020 and will compete at the event for the first time since 2019 as the 2020 edition of the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Crimson qualified for each of the first three editions of the tournament in 2017, 2018, and 2019, advancing to the tournament final in both 2018 and 2019.

• Piggé matched his career high with 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting alongside seven rebounds on Senior Night vs. Columbia (Mar. 9). He totaled 23 points and six assists, while shooting 8-of-11 from the floor vs. UNH (Nov. 9). He recorded his first double-double of the season on 21 points and 11 rebounds in the overtime win vs. Princeton (Jan. 17). He dropped 21 points with a career-high nine assists at Penn State (Nov. 19) and netted 18 points at Colgate (Dec. 28). Piggé posted 16 points and seven rebounds vs. Holy Cross (Dec. 20) and notched 16 points at Brown (Jan. 30). • Sophomore guard Austin Hunt has tallied 7.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game on the year, while shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from 3-point range. Hunt scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-9 field goals and 3-of-4 3-pointers vs. Holy Cross (Dec. 20). He netted 16 points and hit 4-of-7 treys vs. Dartmouth (Jan. 5). Hunt notched 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists vs. UNH (Nov. 9) and netted 10 points at Furman (Dec. 6). Hunt averaged 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 2024-25.
• Harvard holds a 49-141 record all-time vs. Penn in a series that dates back to the 1902-03 season. Under head coach Tommy Amaker, the Crimson has registered a 23-15 mark vs. the Quakers.
