ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The No. 1 Harvard men's lightweight rowing team swept Navy and MIT for the Haines Cup and Paulovich Trophy on the Severn River Saturday morning. With the wins, Harvard moved to 55-9 all-time against the Mids and 100-15 against the Engineers.
The third varsity launched around 7:40 a.m. for the first race of the day. Stroked by
Rupert Chen, the Crimson posted a win of just over two seconds over Navy's top boat of three in the race with a time of 6:15.8. In the second varsity,
Nikhil Ramaraju stroked Harvard to a win in 6:00.5.
Rowing in gorgeous conditions with a cross/quartering head and a building chop in the second 1,000 meters, Harvard claimed wins over MIT (5:55.8) and Navy (6:05.2) in the varsity race, stroked by
Ben Lundie, with a finishign time of 5:51.0.
