Men’s Golf Heads to Georgia to Compete in NCAA Regional Round

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2026 Ivy League Champion, Harvard Men's Golf, will head to Georgia this weekend to compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Crimson will join the field at the University of Georgia Golf Course to compete in the third NCAA regional tournament in program history. Now a five-time Ivy League Champion, Harvard will look to carry its strong play from the month of April into the tournament that is set to begin on Monday (May 18) and run through Wednesday (May 20).

Notes and Storylines

  • After capturing the 2026 Ivy League Championship (Apr. 24-26), Harvard earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional round.
  • The Championship was Harvard's fifth Ivy League title in program history, which helped the team secure its third ever appearance in the NCAA Regional round.
  • Sophomore Barry Zhang was the league's Individual Champion after winning the title in a playoff. The Florida native posted round of 69-74-69 to finish the tournament at four-under-par.
  • Classmates Ieuan Jones and William Ma joined Zhang on the Ivy League's All-Championship Team after coming in 4th and T5, respectively. Jones finished the tournament one-over-par after rounds of 72-75-70. Ma came in T5 after posting three rounds of 73 (+1) to finish three-over-par.
  • The tournament came down to the final putt, as Harvard (+10) narrowly defeated the runner-up, Princeton (+11), by just one stroke.
  • It was Harvard's second consecutive tournament championship as the team previously won the Princeton Invitational (Apr. 11-12) with a team tournament score of 849 (-3).
  • William Ma and Morgan Riley finished in the top five at the event, posting tournament scores of 213 (E) and 214 (+1) respectively. Ieuan Jones and Isaac Ahn came in T14 (+3) to help the Crimson come out on top.
  • One of the best tournaments in Harvard history, Ma and Riley each recorded a hole-in-one at the tournament. They were the first hole-in-ones in competition for Harvard in at least the past 32 years.
  • Ieuan Jones currently leads the team in scoring average with his 72.0 clip in 20 rounds played. Barry Zhang is right behind him with a 72.2 and William Ma's 73.1 rounds out the top three for the Crimson. Isaac Ahn and Morgan Riley own scoring averages of 73.3 and 73.7, respectively.
  • Barry Zhang has recorded 58 birdies and 228 pars this season to lead the team.
  • Morgan Riley is second on the squad with 56 birdies and Ieuan Jones is just behind with 55.
  • In the pars category, Ma (215) and Jones (214) are just behind Zhang.
  • Ieuan Jones owns the lowest round of Harvard's 2025-26 season with a 67 (-5) at the Rod Myers Invitational.
 

Harvard's NCAA Regional History

  • Harvard has competed in an NCAA Regional Tournament twice in 2016 and 2017.
  • Kendrick Vinar's T13 finish in 2017 is the highest at a regional in program history.
  • Vinar also owns the lowest tournament score (+2) and round score (-4) at the regionals in program history.
  • As a team, Harvard has placed 12th (2016) and 13th (2017) at its two previous regional tournaments.
  • The program's lowest team score came in 2017 after the Crimson collectively shot a 909 (+45) at the College Grove Regional in Tennessee.
  • The lowest team round was at the 2016 Tuscaloosa Regional in Alabama when the Crimson shot a 298 (+10).
 

About the NCAA Regional Round

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 18-20. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals. Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Texas is the host institution for the 2026 championships.
