Men's Golf's Zhang in 12th Place after Day 1 of NCAA Regional

ATHENS, Ga. – Harvard men's golf wrapped up day one of the 2026 NCAA Athens Regional in eighth place after the opening 18 holes. Finishing ahead of two top-50 teams, the Crimson closed out the round at even par, with Barry Zhang leading the way after finishing two-under-par.

Beginning on the back nine, Zhang recorded seven pars and a birdie to make the turn at even par before posting a strong 33 on the front nine behind two more birdies and seven pars. Zhang closed the day in 12th place overall, sitting just four shots behind the leader.

Isaac Ahn also put together a strong start to the tournament, finishing the round at even par. The rookie recorded an eagle on his first hole of the day, becoming one of just three players in the field to card an eagle in round one.

Morgan Riley and William Ma both finished one-over-par, while Leuan Jones closed the opening round at five-over.

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Isaac Ahn was one of three golfers to record an eagle in round one, doing so on the par-4 10th hole.
  • William Ma opened the day with a bogey-free opening nine holes.
  • Two Crimson golfers wrapped up round one in the top half of the field, with Zhang in 12th and Ahn tied for 29th.
  • Morgan Riley and William Ma both finished tied for 39th.

Harvard returns to action tomorrow for round two of the Athens Regional, with tee times yet to be determined.
