McElhinney Highlights Crimson Showing on Second Day of NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – First-year Dylan McElhinney wrapped up a strong debut season with the Crimson at Hayward Field this evening, as the New York, New York native took All-America honorable mention status in the women's 1500m on the second day of action at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Running in the first of two heats of the women's 1500m semifinals, McElhinney ran a 4:30.87 to finish in 23rd place overall in a highly competitive field at Hayward Field. An All-Ivy League Second Team selection in the women's 1500m this season, McElhinney joins three-time NCAA national champion Maia Ramsden '24 and Abbe Goldstein '22 as the only Crimson in school history to place in the women's 1500m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Only one of four first-years in the nation to qualify for the women's 1500m semifinals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this season, McElhinney concludes an impressive first season with the Crimson. Along with her second place showing in the women's 1500m at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships, McElhinney also took fourth in the 4x800m relay at outdoor Heps earlier this season. At the 2026 NCAA East First Round, McElhinney made a statement, as her time of 4:10.98 in the women's 1500m first round ranks third all-time in school history.

Fellow first-year Nadjela Wepiwé will also represent the Crimson in the women's discus throw at 2:30 p.m. eastern time on Saturday, June 13.
