VERO BEACH, Fla. – Harvard softball first-year Amanda Thompson concluded a stellar summer on the international stage with the U.S. Virgin Islands, winning the championship at the Nike RBI Softball World Series.

The U.S. Virgin Islands were dominant in its run to the title in Vero Beach, Florida. After a pair of wins against Royals Elite and Atlanta Braves, the U.S. Virgin Islands fell against Houston, 4-2. A thrilling 4-3 win against Detroit set up a rematch against Houston in the championship round. The U.S. Virgin Islands secured the trophy with a 3-1 against Houston, scoring runs in the first, third and fourth innings.

A two-way standout, Thompson made an impact both in the circle and at the plate in the championship showdown against Houston. Offensively, Thompson picked up a hit and drew a walk, as Thompson recorded the last six outs of the contest in the circle to secure the victory.

Along with taking home the trophy at the Nike RBI Softball World Series, Thompson also earned a silver medal with the U.S. Virgin Islands earlier this month at the 2026 Caribbean and Central American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
