Field Hockey Opens 2026 Season at No. 4 in Penn Monto/NFHCA National Preseason Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Harvard field hockey, the defending Ivy League regular season champion, will open the 2026 season at No. 4 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Preseason Coaches Poll. The No. 4 ranking represents Harvard's highest ever ranking in the preseason portion of the Penn Monto/NFHCA National Coaches Poll.

The Crimson, led by four-time Ivy League Coach of the Year Tjerk van Herwaarden, has now spent 10 consecutive weeks inside the top 5 of the Penn Monto/NFHCA National Coaches Poll, the longest streak in school history and the longest active streak in the Ivy League. Last season saw Harvard reach as high as No. 3 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA National Coaches Poll, the highest ranking in school history.

Harvard is joined by two Ivy League peers in the top 20, Princeton at No. 3 and Yale at No. 16. The Crimson's schedule features seven sides ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA National Coaches Poll, the Tigers, No. 7 Wake Forest, No. 9 Syracuse, No. 11 UConn, No. 15 UMass, No. 16 Yale and No. 18 Monmouth.

The Crimson begins the 2026 with a four-match homestand at Berylson Field, kicking off the campaign with a 4:00 p.m. matchup against UMass Lowell on Friday, Sept. 4.
