Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-Junior Chloe Keating
scored her second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Harvard
women's field hockey team to its first Ivy League win, 4-3 against
Brown Saturday afternoon at rain-soaked Jordan Field.
Keating added an assist, and Harvard (4-4, 1-2 Ivy League) also
got goals from sophomores Carly Dickson and Allie Kimmel. Keating
scored at the 71:28 mark, less than two minutes into overtime. She
collected a pass ahead from Dickson, outran and slipped by a
defender and then came back to the right side to shoot past Brown
goalie Caroline Washburn. Cynthia Tassopoulos made four saves for
the win, as the Crimson outshot the Bears (3-6, 0-3), 21-13.
Washburn made nine saves.
The Crimson took the lead about eight minutes into the game.
Instead of shooting on a penalty corner, sophomore Georgia
McGillivray slid the ball to her left, to Dickson. The sophomore
sent a shot from the top of the circle through traffic and past
Washburn. The Brown goalie, however, stopped Dickson on a penalty
stroke shortly thereafter. Brown got an equalizer at 27:34,
following a corner. Katie Hyland faked a shot off stopper Michaela
Saigo's pass, and Whitney Knowlton banged in a shot from the left.
Harvard answered just 21 seconds later. Keating got the ball in the
circle, turned a found Kimmel on the left post for the finish.
Keating made it 3-1 in the game's 46th minute, beating Washburn
after a pass from senior Kristin Bannon left her all alone on the
left side of the circle. This time it was Brown answering after
barely a minute. After inserting a corner, Leslie Springmeyer
deflected Elara Mosquera's shot from the left side. The Bears tied
the game again with less than 11 minutes remaining, when Kelley
Harrison centered a pass from the right end line to Abigail Taft in
front for the score. Brown had earlier gotten a chance to tie, but
Tacy Zysk had her first shot stopped by Tassopoulos and her second
denied on a defensive save by Harvard freshman Molly Stansik.
