COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Harvard field hockey junior midfielder Lara Beekhuis and senior midfielder and team captain Kitty Chapple both earn National Field Hockey Coaches Association Scholar of Distinction recognition, an honor that awards student-athletes for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 or above after the fall semester.

Beekhuis, a native of Laren, Netherlands, enjoyed a career-year in 2025, tallying career-highs in goals (11), assists (6) and points (28) across 21 appearances for the Crimson on the pitch. A two-time NFHCA Northeast All-Region honoree, Beekhuis also earned the NCAA Elite-Scholar Athlete Award at the 2025 NCAA Field Hockey Championships, as the NCAA Eli-Scholar Athlete Award program honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average at the final site of an NCAA Championship. One of Harvard's team captains for the upcoming 2026 season, Beekhuis is a concentrator in psychology.

A NFHCA All-America First Team honoree in 2025, Chapple ends her collegiate career as a four-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honoree. One of the top midfield talents in the nation, Chapple started in all 77 contests of her Crimson tenure, tallying eight goals, 19 assists and 35 points. A four-time All-Ivy League honoree, Chapple will graduate this spring with a bachelor's degree in integrative biology.

The 2025 campaign was one to remember for Harvard field hockey, as the Crimson advanced to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals for the second time in school history with a 19-2 record. The Crimson set a new school record for wins in a single season and completed the first perfect regular season in Ivy League history.
