Last Time Out
Cynthia Tassopoulos made 12 saves and the Crimson held No.
10 Massachusetts without a goal from the field, but the Minutewomen
rode a first-half penalty stroke to a 1-0 win Tuesday at Jordan.
Tassopoulos made four saves in the first half and eight in the
second before UMass stopped a last-second shot by co-captain
Kristin Bannon to hang on.
Home Improvement
Harvard (4-5) owns a 2-2 record at Jordan Field this
season. Opponents hold a slim 10-9 edge in goals in those games,
but the Crimson has outshot its visitors, 64-52, and owns a 26-19
advantage in penalty corners in home games.
Crimson Capsule
Chloe Keating leads Harvard with eight goals, five assists
and 21 points, while Emma Keller ranks second with four goals and
nine points. Carly Dickson is Harvard's second-leading setup player
with four assists. She is tied with Allie Kimmel (three goals, two
assists) for third on the team in scoring with eight points.
Cynthia Tassopoulos owns a .711 save percentage.
Facing Their Hometown Team
Two Harvard players hail from Ann Arbor, Mich., home of
the Michigan campus. Co-captain Elizabeth Goodman-Bacon and Molly
Stansik helped lead Ann Arbor Pioneer High School to five state
championships in a six-year span.
History Lesson
The Crimson and Wolverines have met just twice
previously, Oct. 7, 2001 and Oct. 3, 2004 in Ann Arbor. Michigan
prevailed in both meetings, 2-1 in overtime in 2001 and 4-2 three
years later.
Scouting the Wolverines
Michigan (5-7) has won its last three games. Six of the
Wolverines' seven losses have come against ranked opponents,
including a 5-1 loss to No. 5 Connecticut, their only common foe
with Harvard thus far. Reigning Big Ten Player of the Week Meredith
Way leads U-M with 10 goals and 20 points. Katie Adams has a
team-high five assists. Christi Barwick has started the last two
games in goal and owns a save percentage of .818 and goals-against
average of 0.77.
Coming Attractions
Harvard concludes a four-game homestand and a stretch of
three straight non-league home games when it welcomes Boston
University Wednesday at 6 p.m.
