77-51 win over Bryant (Kevin Burns).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard University cruised
to a 77-51 non-conference victory over visiting Bryant University
Friday evening which moved Tommy Amaker's Crimson to 3-0 on the
young season.
Harvard led throughout the game but started just 6-for-22 from
the floor with Bryant chasing a 19-18 deficit midway through the
period. The Crimson caught fire spanning both halves however,
connecting on 22 of their next 34 shot attempts (.647) in cruising
to the victory.
Jeremy Lin started the big run with a long 3-pointer at the
buzzer to end the first half and Harvard opened the second stanza
on an 18-4 run capped by a pair of free throws from Pat Magnarelli
to give Harvard a 52-32 lead with 13:25 remaining.
Harvard showed impressive deep post position all night in
outscoring Bryant, 40-16, in the paint and outrebounding the
Bulldogs 42-33. Unselfish play highlighted the evening as 14
players played, 13 scored, 10 played double digit minutes and
nobody played more than 27 minutes.
Six different players attempted at least five shots and Harvard
shot 53 percent in the second half.
Lin and Christian Webster led all scorers with 12 points apiece
on identical 5-for-7 shooting marks. Lin added six assists (five
first half), three blocks and four rebounds while Webster added
three assists. Magnarelli followed with 11 points on 4-for-6
shooting.
Bryant was led by Cecil Gresham's 11 points (5-14 FG) and eight
rebounds.
