Series History
Harvard leads the all-time series, 32-26 but Boston has
dominated the series in recent years, winning eight straight
contests. BU has won nine straight home games in the series with
Harvard not having won across the Charles River since 1975-76 with
an 86-70 victory.
The Last Meeting
Both teams shot 47 percent from the floor in last season's meeting,
but BU shot 46 percent (13-of-28) from beyond the arc compared to
13 percent (2-of-15) for Harvard as the Terriers pulled away,
75-59.
Harvard took a 16-15 lead on an Evan Harris '09
lay-in with 13 minutes to play in the first half, but the Crimson
went five minutes without scoring and eight and a half minutes
without a field goal.
BU led 54-43 with just under 12 minutes to play
when it went on a 17-4 run over the next four minutes to break the
game open. Corey Lowe led BU with 20 points while Jeremy Lin had 17
for Harvard.
Harvard's Last Time
Out
Harvard held the New Hampshire Wildcats without a
two-point basket in the first half Wednesday night as the Crimson
raced past their guests en route to a 78-60 victory at Lavietes
Pavilion on Thanksgiving Eve.
Jeremy Lin led all players with 18 points (6-9 FG)
to go with seven rebounds in just 23 minutes on the court. No
Crimson player had more than 24 minutes on the floor. Christian
Webster, in his first collegiate start, added 15 points on 6-9
shooting with two steals. Classmate Dee Giger had 11 points and
sophomore guard Oliver McNally had nine assists and no turnovers
while pulling down five rebounds.
Boston's Last Time Out
BU has played a tough schedule so far with games against
George Washington, Kansas State, Georgia Tech and Indiana - which
the Terriers defeated.
On Wednesday, led by 18 points each from sophomore
Jake O'Brien and senior Corey Lowe, Boston University outlasted
cross-town rival Northeastern for a 69-64 overtime victory at Case
Gym. Down by one with 1:14 to go in overtime, the Terriers scored
the final six points of the extra session.
Harvard Coach Tommy
Amaker
Tommy Amaker (Duke '87) begins his third season as head
coach of the Harvard men's basketball team. He registered his 200th
career coaching victory Nov. 13 in the 2009-10 season opener at
Holy Cross.
He brings a 203-175 career head coaching record
into the game, including a 109-83 record at Michigan at a 68-55
record at Seton Hall.
Amaker came to Harvard after a six year stint as
Michigan's head coach. Inheriting a program that was reeling from
institutional and NCAA sanctions, he led the Wolverines to the
postseason three times, winning the 2004 NIT title, reaching the
championship game of the 2006 NIT, and advancing to the second
round of the 2007 tournament. The 2006-07 season was Michigan's
second straight 20-win campaign and its third in four years. The
Wolverines were ranked as high as No. 20 in the nation during the
2005-06 season.
