Princeton, N.J. - Freshman Ellen Gleason and
junior Delia Pais scored their first collegiate goals in a tough
17-5 loss to No. 7 Princeton Saturday afternoon at the Class of
'52 Stadium.
Gleason led the Crimson (4-8, 1-3 Ivy) with two goals, while Pais,
senior Shannon Flynn and freshman Katie Doherty scored a goal each.
Kristin Schwab scored a career-high five goals to pace the Tigers
(10-1, 4-0 Ivy).
Princeton scored early and often to take a 12-0 lead at the half.
The Tigers extended its lead to a 15-0 lead at 22:34. Doherty
finally got the Crimson on the scoreboard at 20:41, and Gleason
added another over a minute later after nearly giving the ball away
before scooping it off the turf and running to the goal.
Cassie Pyle broke up the short Harvard spurt with a tally at 14:10.
The nets lay still for the next 10 minutes before Flynn made it
16-3 with 5:21 to play. Schwab collected her fifth goal of the game
with just over two minutes to play. Pais and Gleason added two more
goals for the Crimson during the final minute to settle the score
at 17-5.
Freshman Kerry Clark started in goal and made three saves and
allowed nine goals in 13:27 before sophomore Katherine Martino took
over. Martino stopped six shots and allowed eight.
The Crimson continues its road swing with a game against Dartmouth
in Hanover, N.H. Wednesday. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
