PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Harvard men's water polo team suffered a pair of defeats on the second and final day of the Princeton Invitational, falling to No. 16 Santa Clara, 18-6, and to Fordham by a score of 11-8 Sunday.

Against the Broncos, Bret Voith tallied two goals, while the foursome of Egen Atkinson, Max Eliot, Jeff Lee and Kevin DiSilvestro each pitched in with a tally apiece.  The Crimson trailed 4-2 after the first quarter, but the team could not inch any closer against Santa Clara.

In the latter contest against Fordham, Alexandre Popp started in net for Harvard, making 11 saves.  In addition to drawing four kickouts, Alex Thompson found the back of the net for a goal.  Voith and Eliot tied for the team lead with two goals each, and Lee, Luka Babic and Mike Katzer also added tallies.  Harvard scored on 1-of-7 man-up opportunities, as the team falls to 1-6 on the season.

Up next, the Crimson will host MIT in Harvard's home and CWPA opener Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m.  The team will then head back to Princeton, N.J., for the ECAC Championships Sept. 18-20.  Harvard will take on George Washington Friday at 9:15 p.m.  The Crimson, the No. 9 seed at the ECAC Championships, defeated the eighth-seeded Colonials, 12-7, at the Princeton Invitational Saturday.  Mike Katzer scored four goals in the contest to guide the Crimson offense, while Popp stopped eight shots.
