CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Several members of the Harvard men's
swimming and diving team attended a speech by four-time Olympic
gold medalist Dara Torrest at Kirkland House, as part of the
"Conversations with Kirkland" series, Feb. 2.
The 12-time Olympic medalist spoke about her experiences competing
in five different Olympic Games. At the age of 41, Torres,
who had been eight years between Olympic appearances, won three
silver medals at the Beijing Games, two in the 4x100 freestyle
relay and 4x100 medley relay, as well as the 50m freestyle
race.
Outside of the water, Torres also discussed her time working as a
TV commentator for Good Morning America, ESPN, TNT and Fox News
Channel. Last year, she was named one of the Top Female
Athletes of the Decade by Sports Illustrated and won the
Best Comeback Award at the 17th annual ESPY Awards. In addition,
she is currently working on her second fitness book to be released
this upcoming summer.
