CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard
men's volleyball team lost to Baruch, 3-0, in its home opener
Thursday night at the Malkin Athletic Center. The Bearcats won the
match in straight sets, 30-28, 33-31, 30-27.
Seniors Gil Weintraub and Erik Kuld each posted 13 kills for the
Crimson, while sophomore Matt Jones recorded eight kills. Freshman
Rob Lothman handed out 35 assists and had six digs on the
night.
In all three sets, the Crimson had the opportunity to come away
with the win, but was unable to score the final points.
The second set was the
closest of the three as there were 21 ties and nine lead changes.
Harvard and Baruch traded scoring spurts before the Bearcats scored
three unanswered points to claim the set win.
Despite the loss, the Crimson held a 49-47 advantage in kills and
also registered 31 digs, two more than the Bearcats' total of
29.
The Crimson travels to Nashua, N.H. to take on Rivier Feb. 10
before returning home to host Princeton Feb. 13.
