CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte topped
Harvard's baseball team by an 18-10 score Saturday afternoon
in a slugfest in Charlotte, N.C. Harvard (3-9) and Charlotte (10-5)
will close the three-game series on Sunday.
Five different players had at least three hits in the 49ers
23-hit attack.
Charlotte broke open a 1-0 Harvard lead in the third with seven
singles, a double, two walks and two wild pitches to score six runs
and chase Brent Suter (0-2) from the game.
Harvard worked its way back into the game with a two-run homer
for Kyle Larrow in the fourth and a six-run seventh inning to make
it a 16-10 game. In the sixth, three consecutive bases loaded walks
and two wild pitches scored runs while Sean O'Hara also drove
in a run.
Charlotte added a run in the bottom of the seventh and one in
the eighth to account for the final margin.
Larrow led Harvard with a 3-for-4 effort while getting the start
at second base.
Kelly McLain earned the win for Charlotte with two scoreless
innings of relief in which he struck out three batters.
