CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Former Harvard men's hockey
players Craig Adams '99, Dominic Moore '03 and Dylan Reese '07 have
gained media attention with their recent performances for their
respective National Hockey League clubs, while Peter Ciavaglia '91
is making a more important difference on the ice.
A year after helping the Pittsburgh Penguins clinch the
Stanley Cup, Adams is proving just how valuable a standout
defensive forward can be to an NHL team. Sunday's edition of the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette pointed out the difference Adams has
made on the Penguins' penalty kill and how indispensible he has
become to Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma.
Moore moved from the Florida Panthers to the Montreal
Canadiens just before the Olympic break. As The Gazette pointed out earlier this
month, the forward has already made an
impact with his new team. Moore was also feaured in Saturday's Toronto Sun.
As the current Crimson was preparing to begin the 2010 ECAC
Hockey playoffs at Princeton, Reese was making his NHL debut with
the New York Islanders. The defenseman has played in nine games,
earning a +1 rating. He scored his first career goal in the first
period of a 5-2 win at Vancouver last week. NewYorkIslanders.com features video of the
score.
Ciavaglia logged 70 points three times in six professional
seasons with the International Hockey League's Detroit Vipers,
retiring from the game in 2000. As the Oakland, Mich., Daily Tribune
detailed Sunday, Ciavaglia's best work on the ice has come
since he helped form the MORC Stars, a team for youth with
developmental disabilities, in 2007.
