DURHAM, N.H.—New Hampshire scored two
unanswered goals following Rachael
Rosenfeld's tying tally to defeat the Harvard field hockey
team, 3-1, Wednesday evening at Memorial Field in the Crimson's
final game before beginning Ivy League play.
Sophomore Cynthia
Tassopoulos made 11 saves for the Crimson (2-3). Rosenfeld
notched her second goal in three games, while Whitney Frates and
Hayley Rausch each logged a goal and an assist for the Wildcats
(5-2). New Hampshire held a 19-8 edge in shots and a 10-5 advantage
in penalty corners.
Rausch gave UNH the lead about 15 minutes into the game, banging
the ball in after a left-to-right pass from Frates.
As she did Friday against Maine, Rosenfeld netted a first-half
equalizer. She took a pass from senior Chloe Keating and
beat Katherine Nagengast with a shot to the right side. Keating led
Harvard with three shots, and her assist gave her a team-high 11
points in five games this season. Nagengast made two saves.
Rosenfeld's goal sent the game into halftime tied at 1-1. Frates
seized control for UNH with a goal early in the second half after
pouncing on a loose ball in the circle. Megan Bozek added an
insurance tally off a 53rd-minute penalty corner.
Harvard opens Ivy League play Saturday against rival Yale. The
game starts at 2 p.m. at Jordan Field.
