CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Another tough second
period and a strong defensive showing by Mercyhurst Saturday led
the Harvard men's water polo team to another defeat at the ECAC
Championships at Blodgett Pool, 11-3, to the Lakers.
Harvard stayed close after Mercyhurst struck first in the
opening period, tying the game at 1-1 before Mercyhurst took a 3-2
lead at the end of the period. The Crimson's offense would go cold,
though, mustering just one more goal for the rest of the game. The
Lakers took advantage, pulling away by scores of 6-3 at halftime
and 10-3 at the end of the third period.
Senior Alex Thompson
had two goals to lead Harvard and senior Jeff Lee added to
his team-leading 14 goals this season with a tally in the game as
well
Harvard will face the 12th-seeded Washington & Jefferson
Presidents at 9 a.m. Sunday in the ECAC Championships 11th place
game.
