Ivy League Release
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Freshman forward Noel
Painter, who scored three goals in two weekend games for the
Harvard field hockey team, has been named Ivy League Rookie of the
Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
A day after scoring in an Ivy game against Princeton, Painter
added two key goals to lead the Crimson to a 3-2 overtime win
against Colgate Sunday. Harvard faced a 2-1 second-half deficit
against the Raiders before Painter tied the game and then added the
game-winning goal just 76 seconds into overtime.
The Los Gatos, Calif., native leads Harvard with 20 points and
eight goals this season. Her four assists are tied for the team
lead. Painter has scored a goal in four straight games.
Classmate Caitlin Rea earned selection to this week's Ivy
League honor roll. The midfielder assisted on both of
Painter's goals and scored one of her own against the
Raiders. Rea also helped set up Painter's goal Saturday.
Painter is the third Crimson player to be honored by the Ivy
League this season, joining Carly Dickson, who was named Ivy Player
of the Week on Sept. 27, and Sydney Jenkins, the Sept. 6 Rookie of
the Week.
