CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Harvard coed sailing
team, led by the A-division duo of Brendan Kopp and Sarah Pierson,
tallied 256 points and finished ninth at the Danmark Trophy hosted
by Coast Guard over the weekend. The Crimson also hosted the
Charles River invitational on Sunday and placed 14th.
The pair of Kopp and Pierson earned seven top-10 finishes during
the 13-race regatta, accruing 124 points, good for ninth in the
A-division. Junior Emily Lambert and freshman Reid Bergsund made up
a B-division squad that finished in the top 10 three times,
highlighted by a win in the 11th race. Lambert and Bergsund
finished with 132 points and 11th in the division. Hobart and
William Smith took first-place, with Tufts and Yale rounding out
the top three spots by the end of the weekend.
The Crimson hosted the Charles River Invitational on Sunday,
as the freshmen tandem of Ansel Duff and Ashleigh Inglis ended the
day with 63 points in the regatta's five races. The Crimson
saw freshman Kendra Norton skipper her first collegiate regatta,
teaming up with junior Diana Powell and registering 62 points for
13th in the division. Harvard took 14th overall with 125 points.
The Vermont Catamounts took top honors on the day beating out
second-place Boston University by three points.
