CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Charlotte broke open a 1-0 game with six runs in the seventh inning Saturday afternoon as the 49ers downed Harvard, 7-0.
Charlotte (14-5) and Harvard (1-12) went into the fifth inning deadlocked in a scoreless battle as they had on Friday evening.
Working against Eric Eadington, Justin Roland led off with a single and was sacrificed to second before coming home on a triple from Justin Wilson.
Charlotte broke the game open in the seventh against the Crimson bullpen as a leadoff walked proved a harbinger of things to come with the 49ers scoring six time on three walks and four hits, three of them triples.
In all, Charlotte outhit the Crimson 9-4 with Jeff Reynolds being the only Harvard player to get going offensively with a pair of hits.
Eadington struck out five batters in his five innings of work against five hits and four walks.
