Mills also earned Academic All-Ivy League honors as a senior (David Silverman).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Kate Mills of the Harvard women's swimming and diving team was recently awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, joining a group of 58 senior winter student-athletes across all three NCAA divisions earning the award.    

Mills wrapped up a successful collegiate career with a stellar senior season in 2010-11. The Sacramento, Calif., native garnered two first-team All-Ivy League accolades in the 400-yard individual medley and the 800 free relay and also picked up second-team All-Ivy nods in the 200 butterfly and 400 free relay. At the end of the 2011 Ivy League Championships, Mills was presented with the Career High Point Swimmer Award for her success through the years at the league championships.

A three-time participant in the NCAA Championships and three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American, Mills leaves Harvard holding school-record times in three individual and two relay events. Mills was also named to the Academic All-Ivy League team as a senior.

To qualify for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent, and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was nominated.

The student-athlete must have behaved, both on and off the field, in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution and intercollegiate athletics. The student-athlete also must intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
