Max Murphy scored three goals in Harvard's win over Fordham (Harvard Athletic Communications).

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Harvard men's water polo squad concluded the Princeton Invitational with a split of two games Sunday. The Crimson fell to Johns Hopkins, 14-6, and defeated Fordham, 8-6, to finish the invitational with a 2-2 record.

Johns Hopkins got the scoring started against the Crimson with three goals during a one minute stretch midway through the first period. The Blue Jays continued to a 5-0 lead in the second quarter and sustained at least a three goal advantage throughout the remainder of the contest.

The Crimson was led in scoring by John Holland-McCowan's two goals.

Harvard evened its overall record to 3-3 with the win over Fordham in its Princeton Invitational finale. The Rams used a strong second quarter to enter halftime with a 5-3 lead before Harvard fought back in the second half. The Crimson tied the score, 5-5, in the third period and owned the Rams, 3-1, in the final frame to secure the come-from-behind victory.

Freshman Max Murphy doubled his total season goals with a hat trick in game two.

The Crimson continues its season with the North vs. South tournament in Annapolis, Md. Sept. 16-17. Harvard will face No. 16 Bucknell, Mercyhurst and No. 15 Navy during the two-day event.
