CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Both the Harvard men's and women's cross country teams have cemented their places in the regional rankings, as the USTFCCCA released the first polls of the 2011 regular season Monday.

The men's squad received a preseason ranking of No. 7 in the Northeast region and maintained that position after its first week of competition. Harvard is the third of six Ivy League squads ranked within the top 15, sitting behind Dartmouth (fourth) and Columbia (fifth) in the rankings.

The women earned a preseason ranking of 12th in the Northeast and occupied that spot in this week's polls as well. The Ivy League also boasts six women's teams in the regional top 15, fronted by third-ranked Dartmouth. Conference rival Yale is seeded one spot below Harvard in the rankings.

The Crimson will square off against some Ancient Eight talent this weekend when it hosts the HY(P) meet Saturday on its home course of Franklin Park. The men's race begins at 11 a.m. while the women are set to start at 11:45 a.m.
