No. 16 Men's Water Polo Falls To No. 13 Brown, Defeats Connecticut College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. and NEW LONDON, Conn. - No. 16 Harvard men's water polo (13-5, 3-3) was on the road for two games Saturday, falling to No. 13 Brown (13-4, 7-1), 19-11, and bouncing back with a 22-14 win over Connecticut College (2-8, 0-2). 

The Crimson started its road double-header with an afternoon clash with Brown at Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The first half was tightly contested with the lead trading hands three times. Harvard was down only one after the first quarter and was able to tie the match, 6-6, heading into half time.

The second half saw the Bears impose their will early, never giving up the lead. Harvard was outscored, 13-5, in the second half and eventually fell to Brown 19-11. Viktor Wrobel led the way for the Crimson with four goals in the match and Ben Zepfel, who added three of his own.

Harvard made the short trip from Providence to New London for an evening match up with Connecticut College at the Lott Natatorium. The Crimson offense was firing on all cylinders against the Camels, scoring at least three goals in every quarter. Harvard jumped out to an 8-4 lead after the first quarter and went in to halftime up 13-9.

The third quarter saw both teams score in bunches, with 11 goals scored between them. The Crimson defense was strong in the fourth quarter, posting a shutout, securing the 22-14 victory. Sophomore Blake Lee was at the forefront of the offensive explosion, scoring six goals and tallying three assists.

The Crimson is on the road again next week, with two CWPA Northern Division match ups. Wednesday, Oct. 15, Harvard faces off against MIT at 7:30 p.m at Alumni Pool. Sunday, Oct. 19, the Crimson opens the Ivy League Championship tournament against Brown at 9:30 a.m.
