CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 16 Harvard men's water polo returns to action tomorrow, October 15, against cross-town rival MIT at 7:30 p.m. in Alumni Pool.
Last Time Out
The Crimson split a pair of weekend CWPA Northern Division matchups, losing to No. 13 Brown 19-11 and beating Connecticut College, 22-14. Harvard is now 13-5 overall and holds a 3-3 record in the division.
The Rivalry Continues
This marks the first time the Crimson and the Engineers have faced off this season and the 103rd meeting between the two programs overall. The two teams will see each other again in 10 short days when MIT makes the quick trip to Blodgett Pool, Saturday, Oct. 25 for an 11 a.m. clash.
Harvard and MIT have a long history in the pool, facing off 102 times, spanning back to 1980. The Crimson leads the all-time series 81-21 and has won the last five meetings.
Road Warriors
The Crimson has been successful when playing on MIT turf. In 26 of 35 trips to MIT, Harvard has been victorious. The Crimson lost the first ever matchup, when it fell 12-10 on September 29, 1980 on the MIT campus. The Crimson would then rattle off 13 straight wins on the road against the Engineers, from October 3, 1981 to September 24, 1996.
Nothing Given
Even though Harvard has won five in a row and seven of the last ten, the Engineers have been a formidable opponent, with seven of the last ten games having been decided by three goals or less. The Crimson has been victorious in its last two trips to Alumni Pool, with both games decided by one goal, including an 11-10 overtime victory November 5, 2011.
About MIT

After a slow a start to the season, the Engineers have picked up their play, winning six of their last eight games. MIT is also riding a three-game win streak into tomorrow's matchup, including an upset win over No. 13 Brown, taking down the Bears 11-9 in Providence on October 14.
