No. 18 Men's Water Polo Starts Weekend Strong

POMONA, Calif. - Harvard men's water polo opened its California road trip yesterday with wins over Concordia, 15-7 and Pomona-Pitzer, 7-3. The Crimson was stellar on both sides of the ball scoring 22 goals, while only allowing 10. Harvard was lead by a trio of players in Ben Zepfel, Viktor Wrobel and Joey Colton, scoring 16 goals in total.

In the first match of the day Harvard faced off against Concordia. The Crimson jumped out to an early lead and never took its foot off the throttled entering the half up, 9-3. Colton, Zepfel and Wrobel finished with 10 goals as the Crimson routed Concordia 15-7.

Harvard was back in the pool a few hours later to take on Pomona-Pitzer. The Saghens put up a strong fight on defense, shutting Harvard out in the first quarter. Even thought it was held under 10 points, the Crimson were able to find a rhythm on offense, scoring seven goals. Junior goalie Colin Woolway was strong between the posts allowing only three goals and posting a second-half shutout to secure a tight 7-3 win. 

Harvard is back in action today with two more matches in the Gary Troyer Invitational. The Crimson go up against Cal Lutheran at 10 a.m. PST and Redlands at 6:20 p.m PST. The Crimson wrap up the weeek end with a Sunday show down against No. 16 Whittier.
