Saunders Named to Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team for Second Straight Year

Saunders is among 40 preseason candidates for the 2015 Lou Henson Award (Sam Wasson).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Wesley Saunders has been named to the Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team for the second straight year, the award committee announced Wednesday.

Saunders is one of 40 individuals to earn the award and be named to the 2015 Lou Henson Award Watch List. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the Division I "Mid-Major" Player of the Year. The award is named in honor of Henson, who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779, and is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.

In addition to being named to the Lou Henson Preseason All-America team last year, Saunders garnered Lou Henson All-America and AP All-America honorable mention selection after ranking among the conference leaders in points (14.2), assists (3.8), rebounds (4.6) and steals (1.7). He was also voted as the Ivy League's Player of the Year for 2013-14, and was a unanimous pick for the All-Ivy League first team.

Saunders enters this season tied with Arne Duncan '87 for 31st on Harvard's career scoring list with 1,012 points.

The 2015 Lou Henson Award winner will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Banquet on April 3 in Indianapolis, site of the 2015 men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
